pad1:3 DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 x 16 Part # 260142

Why is the DVD write speed only up to 16x?
DVD “x” speeds are almost 10 times faster than CD “x” speeds. The DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 use 16x DVD recording technology which is the fastest available. 16x DVD equates to about 22MB/sec transfer rate. 40x CD equates to only 6.0MB/sec. For 16x duplicating you will need to use 16x certified media. The DVD/CD Copy Towers support 8.5GB Double Layer recording when double layer media is used.

What is Double Layer?
Double Layer technology uses a special double layer media that extends the capacity of a DVD from 4.7GB to 8.5GB.

What does "Dual" mean?
The DVD Copy Tower can use both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW discs in duplicating or recording, hence it is “Dual” in recording format technology. This removes most of the format compatibility issues and barriers that previously existed. Now users do not have to worry about which format to buy or which format will become the de facto standard when all is said and done.

What is 8-in-1?
Now customers will be able to use DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW and CD-ROM discs all with one Product. Introducing the new family of Alera Technologies DVD Duplicators based on Dual Standard 8-in-1 DVD±R/RW Technology. This new family supports all popular DVD formats!

What does "Stand-Alone" mean?
No computer is required to make copies of DVDs. Plug it in, turn it on, insert source DVD and blank media, select “Copy”, push “RUN” and the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 starts copying.

How do you make DVD copies?
You load a source DVD in the DVD-ROM reader. Load the as many blanks as you need in the DVD Recorders (up to 3 in 1:3 DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 and up to 7 in 1:7 DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 ). Select “Copy”, push “ENT” and copying starts with no further action. Or, you have an array of parameters and functions you can select by simply indexing through the menu on the LCD display changing read speed, write speed, comparing copies to source DVDs, verifying source DVDs and much more.

Can I copy DVD movies with the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16?
No, commercial movies are copy Protected and cannot be copied with the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16. However, you can copy your own video creations.

Can I copy CDs in the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16x16?
Yes, you can copy CDs in the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16. Just use blank CD-R Media that is certified at least 16x. You use the same simple Procedure for CDs and DVDs.

Can I copy DVDs to CD Media in the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16?
No, DVDs will only copy to blank DVD Media

Can I make just one copy, or do I have to fully load all of the recorders in the 1:3 or 1:7?
Yes, you can make as many copies as you need. Just load as many blanks as your duplication job requires, starting with one. The duplicator will copy to the blank discs it sees and ignores the recorders that do not contain blank discs.

The DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 x 16 contains high speed DVD Recorders and a DVD-ROM mechanism. Since the unit cannot be connected to a computer, does the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 perform other functions?
Yes, the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 can be used to make custom audio CD compilations with the “Edit Track” feature. This track-selecting function can combine tracks from different audio CDs into a single audio CD. You can extract specific tracks from your source CD to create your own compilation discs.

What copy speeds does the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 use?
When “Copy” is selected, you can choose the DVD Duplicating speed from 16x to 1x. If you are duplicating a CD, you can select speeds up to 48x.

What blank media can be used in the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16?
For copying DVDs at 16x, you need 16x certified media. If the media is not 16x, then the duplicator will copy at the speed of the media. If 8.5GB Double Layer copies are needed, Double Layer media must be used. For copying CDs, use any name brand media that is certified for at least 48x. The duplicating function will attempt to write at the speed selected. Copy quality can vary if the copy speed selected is higher than the certification of the media.

Can I also connect the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 to my PC or Mac?
No, the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 is designed as a stand alone duplicator and the internal mechanisms are not designed to be connected to your computer externally.

The speed of the DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 is 16x, how fast will it copy DVDs?
A 1:7 DVD/CD Copy Tower Pro 16 x 16 can make up to 7 copies of a typical 4.7GB DVD in less than 5 minutes. The actual time to copy the information from a source DVD to up to 7 DVD-R blank discs, start to finish, will vary due to the quality of the discs being used, write Process initialization tests by the duplicator controller, writing lead in/lead out information, etc.

If the duplicator is having trouble reading a DVD, what can be done?
The first step to take is to go to “Prescan” and test the disc and the reading speed and making speed adjustments. If you are still having trouble, you can place the source disc in any of the DVD Recorders and try to read it. Any drive can be selected as the source drive using the “Select Src.” Function. If the disc is in questionable condition (minor scratches etc.) please try our Aleratec DVD/CD Disc Repair Plus (Part # 240121). This kit will rejuvenate many discs that have been mishandled. You can also try the “Skip Read Error” function and the duplicator will ignore any read errors encountered.
